Twinkie Wiener Sandwich

Back in 2009, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the movie UHF, I constructed and ate a Twinkie Wiener Sandwich. Here are the never before seen photos.

In case you’ve never seen UHF, “Weird Al” Yankovic plays a guy who gets put in charge of a failing TV station and, if you can believe it, antics ensue. It starts off slow but culminates into some of the funniest shit I’ve ever seen in a B movie. It’s great.

There are few gems early on in the film, but one of them is the now immortal Twinkie Wiener Sandwich, which is constructed by our hero on-screen. We start by cutting shallowly into an inverted Twinkie.

Once we’ve created our bun, it’s time to add our hot dog. “Weird Al” boiled his, but I’m a microwave man. I like the way it tastes. Plus, any person who is likely to make and consume a Twinkie Wiener Sandwich is not the kind of person who is likely to wait patiently for a pot of water to boil. This is cheap meat on pastry, people. I ain’t gots time for no stove.

Lastly, we add the aerosol cheese. This stuff is gross. But since gross was kinda the point, I bought some. I tried Twinkie Wiener Sandwiches both with and without the spray cheese, and I gotta say, it needs it. It just adds a little something. As much as I usually dislike it, on a Twinkie Wiener Sandwich aerosol cheese absolutely works.

You may ask yourself, “How the FUCK could he eat that??” In truth, it was delicious. Not just a little good. Not just surprisingly good. It was fucking GREAT. I would eat these again. I have eaten these again. In fact, I finished off the whole pack of hot dogs as Twinkie Weiner Sandwiches. I may someday dip them in milk just like “Weird Al” Yankovic did, but I’m afraid the Twinkie would dissolve and rob me of my meal. I’m not kidding, it’s that goddamned tasty.

Twinkie Wiener Sandwich #2. I told myself I was eating it for the photo op. I had no excuses for the next six. They’re just so weirdly delicious. As a side note, I don’t know what I was looking at over there in these pictures. Nothing in my kitchen is that interesting. Perhaps I was contemplating my impending diabetes. It’s still a mystery to me how that happened.
