Fight The Future

Carrie, twenty years ago today, Fight The Future was released. You and I were the first ones in line to see the first showing and saw it again that night. Still holds up for me today but damn where did the time go!

I have never understood the shit that movie gets from X-Philes. I took a couple of years off of watching The X-Files. Not because I got tired of it, but because I misplaced my DVDs in a move. When I finally found them, I watched the seasons and this movie in the correct viewing order, and it’s fantastic. It fits fairly seamlessly within the story, and, because of the motion picture budget, was able to show things that would never have been possible in a regular episode. It absolutely stands up. Plus, I never watch this movie without thinking about you and smiling. That was a great day.

My favorite part of the movie, besides naked Scully, is still when Mulder drunkenly but perfectly explains the alien conspiracy and his role in exposing it. It still makes me laugh. “I’m an annoyance to my superiors, a joke to my peers, they call me Spooky, Spooky Mulder who’s sister was kidnapped by little green men and now chases after Aliens with a gun and a butterfly net screaming that the fix is in that the sky is falling and when it hits it’s gonna be the shit storm of all time. Well spooky I think that about does it, looks like 86 is your lucky number.. you know one is the loneliest number…”
