But there’s good news for you, hon. The Russians are in this movie in big way. I’m going to talk about it in the second part of this article, but I think you’ll be very pleased.

Mick’s got a new CD out?!? How in the fuck do I not hear about these things?? Seriously, I’m a complete Stones nut, and you ALWAYS know about shit before me. Concerts, CDs, DVDs, contests; you always have the scoop on me. EVERY DAMN TIME. How in the fuck do you keep doing that???

If I wasn’t gonna go out and buy this tonight, I’d do that. But there’s no way I’m gonna wait. Plus, I want the bonus DVD.

Second I’m still not sold on the Indiana Jones movie. I’m not thrilled with the no Nazis thing. Case in point there were no Nazis in the second movie and personally I thought the second movie was horrible. Once they brought the Nazis back in the third movie the plot really took off. I’m kinda of hoping since this is set in the 1950s that they will find some way to bring the Russians (communists) into it as the enemies. I’m also disappointed that Sean Connery isn’t gonna be in this one. I was excited when I heard he was gonna be in it last year, but now that he isn’t I’m kinda eh. I’ll probably see it, but for my money I think Last Crusade will still be the best.

Oh also not related but of interest to some Mick Jagger’s solo greatest hits cd dropped today. I’m thinking about buying it on ITunes it has some bonus tracks on it.

Hey, when I was looking for pics for Mark’s D-Wars review, I came across linkmesh.com, which apparently has picture galleries of everything cool in the entire universe. Dragons, wizards, dinosaurs, The X-Files, vampires, werewolves, pirates, ninjas, samurai, zombies, tons of different anime galleries, and a collection of cowboy images, some of which are very Deadlands-esque. The entire site is in Spanish, but its so easy to navigate and see what you’re getting that it doesn’t matter. This site is phenomenal. You guys have to check it out.

I’m going to make a bold prediction and say, not counting the first TWO Spiderman movies, this will be the best Marvel movie to date. I’m mean come on, just look at how bad Fantastic Four 2 and Spiderman 3 sucked. It really couldn’t be any worse.

Radiohead dropped a bomb on the music industry last night, announcing their new album In Rainbows. What’s the big deal? Well, first of all, it’ll be released in a mere 9 days, catching everyone off guard (it was expected sometime next year) and keeping the tracks from leaking to the web. Secondly, you’ll be able to download the album from their official site for any price you want to pay. Yes, it’s pay what you want, including free. Really.

If you want a physical copy, you’ll need to drop a whopping $82 on the “discbox,” which includes both CD and vinyl versions of the album, plus an additional CD/vinyl of more new songs, with the CD also including digital pictures and other such goodies. It also comes with a big photo/art book. That version also comes with the digital download, as the physical copy won’t drop ’til December 3rd (the delay to help prevent leaks, presumably).

What Radiohead is essentially doing is making piracy useless for their album. It won’t leak, so you can’t get it early by pirating. And, assuming they’ll be selling high-quality MP3s as they do with all their other albums, there’s no reason to avoid DRM by pirating. And, since it’s essentially free if that’s what you think it’s worth, you won’t save any money by pirating. By making this the best way to get the album, chances are good that people will actually, you know, pay for it, even though they don’t have to. And since this is OMG Radiohead, you know boatloads of people are going to drop $82 on the collectors-item discbox, which is sure to help them make their ducats.

Oh, did I mention they’re doing this without a record label? Yes, that sound you just heard was the music industry collectively crapping its pants.

How fucking amazing is that? If I was a huge Radiohead fan I’d be willing to spend some major cash on this box just for the vinyl (I’m a big fan of vinyl records). Not to mention the whole extra CD. And no record company bullshit? Marvelous. I hope they make a mint off of this. I’m tempted to buy the boxed set just because I like the concept so much. I support things like this wholeheartedly. After I have a listen to the free album, if I like the song’s enough, I may just do it. This is too damn cool. Thanks for the news, Gizmodo! You guys rule.

Transformers 2 More Ambitious

Scott Farrar, visual-effects supervisor and second-unit director of Michael Bay’s Transformers, told SCI FI Wire that the recently announced sequel will be more ambitious visually.

“We want to improve on some of the processes that we did,” Ferrar said in an interview at Industrial Light & Magic in San Francisco, where the film’s transforming robots were created. “I think what we’re going to do is get faster and know our problems sooner and quicker. And then, of course, I know Michael’s always thinking about new, crazy actions. And we’re open to that.”

After discussing the monumental task of creating the effects for the first film, Farrar groaned and fell off his chair in jest when asked about the sequel, which was announced last week with an anticipated release date of June 26, 2009.

“It’s a circus, and they’re going to raise the tight-wire walker a little bit higher next time,” he said. “But it’s all going to be dramatic. I think the commitment is not to just chuck out a sequel. The commitment is-and this makes us really happy here-that it’s a deep story. There are lots of layers to the story of all these Decepticons, everybody. And so they want to really keep the characters rich.”

Farrar added that the filmmakers plan to use the techniques and technology they learned on the first film to make the second even better. “It was difficult and, I think, laborious and I think we learned a lot by the end,” he said. “I think we’ve learned a lot about lighting, and I think we can go to much moodier lighting. Lots of things. It’ll be improved.”

Transformers will be released on DVD and HD DVD Oct. 16
