Spider-Week has begun!

spiderman-in-web-200frame.jpgThere's no way in world you don't know that Spider-Man 3 hits theaters on Friday. I'm not here to promote that. So what's up with Spider-Week then? Here's the deal: until the movie is released, we're going to TRY to have a new Spider-article every day. It may not be about the movie, but it'll be completely Spider-ific. I emphasize 'try' because last time, during our Halloween 2006 celebration, I promised an article a day and I wasn't able to deliver. But this time I've been preparing for months, and I'm smart enough not to promise anything. With that in mind, I've got a bunch of great Spider-stuff to review, and with great Spider-stuff comes great responsibility. Click the pic for today's Spider-fix!

gb2120.gifFirst thing's first, let me get this out of the way. There's some good news and some bad news, and I'll give you the bad news first. You've probably noticed that things look a little different here. That's because we broke the website. Friday evening Q and I somehow managed to bust the site up a bit. Its working now, but it ain't quite the same. We're confident we can get it back to normal, but it may take a bit of time, and possibly some more breakage. Stay tuned to see the site go through what will probably be some really ugly transformations over the next couple of months, only to arise from its own ashes, a phoenix of sci-fi/fantasy goodness. Or something.

The good news; there's a whole new version of Sci-Fi-Guys.com on the way. We're currently using WordPress to create this site. WordPress is a blog software, and (more good news) Sci-Fi-Guys.com has grown, both in size and popularity, past the point where a blog package will work for us. We need a complete site package, and that's what we're moving to. Those of you who know me best can testify to the fact that I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer. I barely passed the sixth grade, folks, and I graduated high school on charm alone. I'm just a hair's breadth from being completely illiterate, so getting used to a new way of publishing articles is going to take a lot of trial and error. Bear with us, and I promise you we'll deliver a great looking site with MUCH more to offer than we currently can. Pinkie swear!

spidermanbusposters200.jpgWith that said, lets get down to the Spider-stuff. Today is all about you, my preciouses. Everything I'll offer today is something you can download and have fun with, or something interesting for you to check out online. First up is a collection of weird ones.

These are scans of the artwork used to promote the movie on the sides of New York city buses. It could be these are used in several cities, but NY is the only one I've read for sure so I'm sticking with that until I find out different.

Click the pic to check these out. They're really quite nice. I love that they show a progression of his transformation by the black Venom suit, but I'd hate to have been a hard-core Spider-Man fan when I found out they were out there. I'd be too tempted to just wait around bus stops to see them all. I was in New York once, and once was enough. Nothing against our readers in the city that never sleeps, but I wasn't all that impressed with NY even when I was able to walk around in it freely. I can't imagine just sitting in the middle of it, looking forward to the time when you're passed by a fucking bus, waiting to see how many Spidey pics there are in this sequence, never knowing if you'd seen them all. Maybe that's why New Yorkers have a reputation for being surly and ill-mannered; years of thoughtless, cruel bus-based advertising campaigns like this one have turned them all into bitter, hateful bastards. Go ahead, bite the Big Apple; don't mind the maggots.

This next one is a separate bus advert, and its a big file. Click the pic to see it full size, and a big thanks to the people at TobeyFAN for this and the rest of their excellent collection of Spider-Man 3 images.

Hey, have some icons. I like to call 'em Spidicons,
which would also be an excellent name for an evil
arachnid TransFormers team. Saying things like that
is why my penis is lonely.

spiderman-christmas.jpg

ugress-logo100x100tr.gifThis little piece of Spidey-heaven is a tacky regifting from an earlier article. In my Christmas article 'Chris reviews Pikachu’s Winter Vacation 2', I coughed up this little stocking stuffer from Ugress, the band that brought us the most excellent musical tribute to the baddest robots of all, "Decepticons." "Spider Eyes" is their cover of the 60's Spider-Man theme. Its an excellent swing jazz instrumental, and the best cover of that song I've heard since Frog Boy and I used to belt it out, two-man jam style, he on percussion and I on guitar and screaming-to-be-heard-over-my-amp vocals. Ugress's version is somewhat more refined… By the way, I stole the Spidey X-mas banner from n8itude. Go visit his site and tell him I said thanks.

Here's some more pics of Spider-Man doing his Yuletide thang. Click the thumbnails for larger versions:

You know I’m just not excited about this movie. In fact yesterday I turned down a free sneak preview ticket for it. I don’t know if it’s over promotion or what, but I’m content on waiting for the DVD and hearing about it from the fine folks at this site. I’m still afraid that they have royally fucked the venom storyline, which was always one of my favorite spidey stories.

Based on how much I liked the last two, I’m looking forward to it. I don’t watch much TV, so I fortunately haven’t seen a lot of the hype. I have even insulated myself from all but one trailer, so I don’t know too much going in. All I know is that a) I really want to fuck Ron Howard’s daughter in her Gwen Stacy wig, and b) Sandman is finally getting some attention. I’m happy with just those two things.

Hello horny guys isnt it a hot Saturday night? I just found your blog entry \” Spider-Week has begun! \” and it is almost as good as the most horny teen gay site I know of (www.schoolboysex [REMAINDER OF DOMAIN NAME DELETED BY CHRIS]) - Thanks!

Chris’s note: Rarely on a Monday morning am I greeted with such a bizarre and inappropriate yet disturbingly lucid spam message. Let alone four of them like I got this morning. But it carries a good message, so I’m going to let it pass. A Happy 2008 New Year to you all, and lots of teen boy cum loads to us, every one! Amen!
